A discussion on safe spaces was organized with LGBT people and allies. The idea of planning a working meeting of this kind was a result of the 6th virtual “Rainbow” forum that took place earlier this year. The aim of the event was to raise awareness and emphasize the importance of LGBT people’s perceptions of security and safe spaces.

During the discussion, representatives of organizations and initiative, as well as individual activists and organizations’ beneficiaries questioned the concept of safe spaces, what criteria is used to determine whether a space is safe or not. Another aspect of the discussion was focused on problems faced in different areas by the LGBT community where the attendees shared their experiences and how they react to discrimination.

To sum up the event, the invited representatives of safe spaces presented their planned steps, while responding to the issues raised during the discussion.
